When the world is devastated by the COVID-19, the film industry has also been hugely affected. As a result many events and award shows have been cancelled due to the safety concern. After the cancellation of the Met Gala, the 93rd Oscar Awards to be held in February 2021 has been postponed by two months. The ceremony is now expected to take place in April 25.
In a joint statement released, Academy President David Rubin and Chief Executive Dawn Hudson said that they are extending the mega event to provide the workability the filmmakers need to finish and release their films without being penalised for something which is not in their control. Now Oscar shortlist will be announced on February 1 and Nominations on March 15.
This is the first time in 40 years that the award function is being rescheduled.
Recently, the Met Gala, Fashion’s biggest night out event, officially announced that there will be no gathering this year keeping in view of the pandemic situation.
