5,792 confirmed with COVID-19 on Nov.17

COVID-19 has been confirmed for 5,792 people in Kerala on November 17 and the test results of 6,620 people who were diagnosed and treated turned negative.
The district-wise break-up of the affected are Malappuram 776, Kollam 682, Thrissur 667, Kozhikode 644, Ernakulam 613, Kottayam 429, Thiruvananthapuram 391, Palakkad 380, Alappuzha 364, Kannur 335, Pathanamthitta 202, Idukki 116, Wayanad 97 and Kasaragod 96.

A total of 56,157 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate is 10.31. A total of 55,54,265 samples have so far been sent for testing, including routine samples, Airport Surveillance, Pooled Sentinel, CBNAT, Trunat, CLIA and Antigen Assay.

Twenty-seven deaths have been confirmed as being caused by COVID-19. Sukumaran (85) from Kottapuram, Thiruvananthapuram, Radhakrishnan Nair (83) from Sasthamangalam, Ammukutty (78) from Anayara, Kulsubeevi (55) from Kallattumukku, Rasheeda (43) from Nemam, Rasak Kunju (60) from Karurkadavu, Kollam, Asha (60) from Klappana, Sarasamma (72) from Cherthala, Alappuzha, Baby (68) from Nagampadam, Kottayam, KM Nabeesa (63) from Mattancherry, Ernakulam, KK Purushan (74) from Elamakkara, Balakrishnan (79) from Pampur, Thrissur, Abdul Jalil (52) from Edassery, Abdul Rahman (75) from Azhikode, Soumya Kumaran (84) from Kallepulli, Palakkad, Sunil Babu (40) from Porur, Malappuram, Khadeeja (54) from Thazhekode, Mohammad (73) from Irumedu, Mohammad Haneefa (50) from Pookottur, Fathima Kutty (65) from Mangalam, Nafisa (64) from Cherpulassery, Vijayan (65) from Nadapuram, Kozhikode, Chandran (75) from Vattoli, Abdulla from Valayam, Velayudhan (90) of Thiruvananthapuram, Suhrabi (69) of Chiraykal, Kannur and Befathima (70) of Kasaragod. This brought the total death toll to 1,915. Further deaths will be confirmed after NIV testing in Alappuzha.

One hundred and four of those diagnosed with the disease are from outside the state, while 4,985 people were infected through contact. Contact source for 639 was not clear. Malappuram 734, Kollam 674, Thrissur 650, Kozhikode 603, Ernakulam 451, Kottayam 427, Thiruvananthapuram 286, Palakkad 177, Alappuzha 345, Kannur 248, Pathanamthitta 130, Idukki 86, Wayanad 82 and Kasaragod 92 were affected by the disease.

Sixty-four health workers were affected by the disease. Ernakulam 15, Kozhikode 11, Pathanamthitta, Kannur 9 each, Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur, Malappuram 4 each, Kollam, Palakkad, Wayanad and Kasaragod 2 each were affected by the disease.
There are currently 3,20,023 people under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of these, 3,03,218 are under home / institutional quarantine and 16,805 in hospitals. A total of 1353 people were admitted to the hospital today.

There are eight new hotspots. Irumpilium in Malappuram district (Cantonment zone sub ward 3), Marakkara (sub ward 1, 11), Valanchery municipality (sub ward 27), Irattayar in Idukki district (sub ward 7), Panachery in Thrissur district (19) and Idamulakkal in Kollam district (sub ward 4), Meencha (7) in Kasaragod district and Thiruvegappura (15, 17) in Palakkad district are the new hotspots. Nine areas have been excluded from the hotspot. With this, there are a total of 599 hotspots
