COVID-19 has been confirmed for 6,004 people in Kerala on January 13. The district-wise break-up of the number of infected are Ernakulam 998, Kozhikode 669, Kottayam 589, Kollam 528, Pathanamthitta 448, Thrissur 437, Alappuzha 432, Malappuram 409, Thiruvananthapuram 386, Idukki 284, Kannur 259, Wayanad 248, Palakkad 225 and Kasaragod 92.
COVID-19 was confirmed within the last 24 hours for a man from the UK. COVID-19 has so far been confirmed by 56 people who recently came from the UK. Their samples have been sent to NIV Pune for further testing. A total of 6 people were diagnosed with the genetically modified virus.
During the last 24 hours, 69,081 samples were tested. The test positivity rate is 8.69. A total of 86,20,873 samples have so far been sent for testing, including LAMP and antigen testing.
It has been confirmed that 26 deaths in the last few days were due to COVID-19. This brings the total death toll to 3373. Further deaths will be confirmed after NIV testing in Alappuzha.
Seventy-three of those diagnosed with the disease are from outside the State and 5,401 people were infected through contact. Contact source for 477 is not clear. Ernakulam 914, Kozhikode 642, Kottayam 541, Kollam 525, Pathanamthitta 399, Thrissur 424, Alappuzha 424, Malappuram 385, Thiruvananthapuram 285, Idukki 268, Kannur 215, Wayanad 234, Palakkad 63 and Kasaragod 82 were affected by the disease.
The disease affected 53 health workers. the number of health workers affected in various districts are Ernakulam 12, Kozhikode 9, Thiruvananthapuram 7, Pathanamthitta, Kannur 6 each, Palakkad, Wayanad 4 each, Thrissur, Kasaragod 2 each and Kottayam 1 were affected by the disease.
The test results of 5,158 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative. Thiruvananthapuram 335, Kollam 230, Pathanamthitta 336, Alappuzha 487, Kottayam 548, Idukki 51, Ernakulam 906, Thrissur 518, Palakkad 212, Malappuram 447, Kozhikode 573, Wayanad 179, Kannur 301 and Kasaragod 35 were found to be negative. With this, 65,373 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. A total of 7,56,817 people have so far been freed from COVID-19.
There are currently 2,00,259 people under surveillance in various districts of the State. Of these, 1,89,550 are under home / institutional quarantine and 10,709 in hospitals. A total of 1,333 people were admitted to hospitals.
There are two new hotspots, Engandiyoor (Cantonment Zone sub-wards 8 and 9) in Thrissur district and Oommennur (14) in Kollam district.
Eleven areas have been excluded from the hotspot list. With this, there are currently a total of 427 hotspots.
