6,815 infected with COVID-19 in Kerala on Jan 20

COVID-19 has been confirmed for 6,815 people in Kerala on January 20 while 7,364 people were cured of the disease. The district-wise break-up of the infected are Ernakulam 1031, Kozhikode 770, Kottayam 704, Pathanamthitta 654, Kollam 639, Malappuram 537, Thrissur 441, Alappuzha 422, Thiruvananthapuram 377, Idukki 336, Wayanad 322, Kannur 281, Palakkad 237 and Kasaragod 64.

COVID-19 was confirmed in the last 24 hours by two people from the UK. COVID-19 has so far been confirmed by 65 people who recently came from the UK. Their samples have been sent to NIV Pune for further testing. A total of nine people were diagnosed with the genetically modified virus.

A total of 61,532 samples were tested during the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate is 11.08. A total of 90,81,931 samples have so far been sent for testing, including LAMP and antigen testing.

It has been confirmed that 18 deaths in the last few days were due to COVID-19. This brings the total death toll to 3,524. Further deaths will be confirmed after NIV testing in Alappuzha.

Ninety-one of those diagnosed with the disease are from outside the State and 6,219 people were infected through contact. Contact source for 447 is not clear. Ernakulam 977, Kozhikode 729, Kottayam 670, Pathanamthitta 586, Kollam 626, Malappuram 517, Thrissur 430, Alappuzha 413, Thiruvananthapuram 251, Idukki 322, Wayanad 297, Kannur 216, Palakkad 126 and Kasaragod 59 were affected by the disease.
Fifty-eight health workers were affected by the disease. Kannur 10, Kozhikode 9, Ernakulam 8, Pathanamthitta 7, Kollam, Wayanad 5 each, Palakkad 4, Thrissur 3, Thiruvananthapuram, Idukki 2 each, Alappuzha, Malappuram and Kasaragod 1 each.

The test results of 7,364 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative. Thiruvananthapuram 375, Kollam 2303, Pathanamthitta 1041, Alappuzha 264, Kottayam 314, Idukki 77, Ernakulam 803, Thrissur 442, Palakkad 199, Malappuram 540, Kozhikode 510, Wayanad 192, Kannur 242 and Kasaragod 62 were found negative today. With this, 69,691 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. 7,90,757 people have so far been freed from COVID-19.

There are currently 2,09,118 people under surveillance in various districts of the State. Of these, 1,97,656 are under home / institutional quarantine and 11,462 in hospitals. A total of 1,460 people were admitted to hospitals.
No new hotspot was announced on the day and five areas were excluded from the hotspot list. With this, there are currently a total of 405 hotspots.
