With a 77-year-old priest dying in the state from COVID-19, the total number of death from the pandemic went up to 11 on June 2. Father K.G Varghese of Thiruvananthapuram, who was undergoing treatment in Trivandrum Medial College died, on a day when a record 86 were diagnosed with the virus in Kerala.
Of the total number of patients turning positive, 46 arrived from abroad and 26 from other parts of the country. Twelve people got the infection through interaction. 774 patients are undergoing treatment in the state. The priest was the third to die from the disease in Trivandrum district.
Of those infected Malappuram topped the tally with 15 infected. In Alappuzha, 10 people were infected while in Kasaragod it was nine, eight in Kollam, seven in Thiruvananthapuram, six each in Kottayam, Thrissur and Wayanad, five Palakkad, Kozhikode and Kannur, three in Ernakulam, and one in Pathanamthitta.
