Nintyone people were confirmed with COVID-19 on June 9, Minister for Health K.K. Shailaja said. Fourteen from Palakkad district, 11 from Alappuzha, 10 from Thiruvananthapuram, eight from Kottayam, seven each from Pathanamthitta, Kozhikode, six each from Thrissr, Malappuram and Wayanad, five each from Kollam and Kannur, four from Ernakulam and two from Kasargod were confirmed with the virus.

Of these 53 people arrived from abroad (UAE – 30, Kuwait – 10, Tajikisthan – 4,   Nigeria – 4, Russia- 3, Saudi Arabia – 2) 27 from other states (Maharashtra – 14, Tamil Nadu –5 , Delhi – 5, Karnataka – 2 Andhra Pradesh – 1). Ten people contracted the virus when they came in contact with infected people. Four in Palakkad, three in Thrissur, two in Malappuram and one in Kannur were in this category. One health worker in Thiruvananthapuram was also diagnosed with COVID-19.

The tests of thrity-four people who were confirmed with the infection have turned negative. Now there are 1,231 people confirmed with the virus and were under treatment. 848 people were cured of the disease.
