Kerala recorded the highest single day COVID-19 cases when 141 people were confirmed with the virus on June 23. This takes the total number of affected to 3,451. One person who was admitted to Parippally Medical College with fever on June 22 died taking the total number of death from COVID-19 from the State to 22.
Sixty people under treatment were cured of the infection taking the total cured to 2,807.
For the past five days, the number of infected have been above hundred every day. With this the situation in the State has become critical. There have also been people who did not show any of symptoms of COVID being confirmed with the infection. There are also cases where the infection could not be traced.
Of those infected 71 people had arrived from abroad and 51 from other states of the country. There were also nine people, including one health workers who got infected through contact.
Of those infected, 27 each are in Pathanamthitta and Palakkad districts, 19 from Alapuzha district, 16 from Thrissur district, 13 from Ernakulam district, 11 from Malappuram district, eight from Kottayam district, six each from Kozhikode and Kannur districts, four each from Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram districts, and two from Wayanad district.
Among those who tested positive, 14 arrived from Delhi, 11 from Tamil Nadu, nine from Maharashtra, two each from Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Haryana and Andhra Pradesh, and one each from Madhya Pradesh and Meghalaya. A total of 4,473 samples were tested and 3,351 were confirmed with the virus.
