India COVID-19 active cases fall below 10 lakh

India’s COVID-19 caseload breached the 67.5 lakh mark on Wednesday, while the number of recoveries stood near the 57.5lakh. The active cases fell below the 10 lakh mark, which is the lowest since September 9. Active cases currently stands at 9,07,883. About 82,203 recoveries were registered in the country in the last 24 hours.

A total of 72,049 cases were reported in the last 24 hours. With 986 deaths reported in the same time, the total death toll has already crossed 1-lakh mark as it stand at 1,04,555.

On recovery front, India is topping the chart in the world with a recovery rate of 84.7 per cent, the health ministry data showed. “India’s Total Recoveries have crossed 56.6 lakh. This has boosted the national Recovery Rate to 84.7%. This sustained high figure is fuelled by 17 States/UTs reporting Recovery Rate higher than the national average,” the ministry said.

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has said that 8,22,71,654 samples were tested for COVID-19 in the country till October 6. Of these, 11,99,857 were tested yesterday.

Total confirmed cases of COVID-19 across the world stand at 3.55 crore . The global death toll stands at 10.42 lakh .
