In a big move, the Indian Army bans its personnel from using 89 apps in their smartphones to stop the leakage of information as it is considered a cyber threat. This decision was made in the wake of arising tensions between India and China.
The ban includes Facebook, Instagram and TikTok and games like PUBG mobile and dating apps like Tinder as well as news apps like Daily Hunt and all private blogs.
The ban applies only to army personnel and not civilians. The army personnel has to delete the app by July 15, otherwise, strict action will be taken. The Indian Army earlier allowed its personnel to use Facebook but with restrictions like not posting pictures in uniform or revealing the details of their location.
