An Indian salesman, working in the emirate of Ajman, has won Dh12 million in the Big Ticket draw in Abu Dhabi on June 3. Assain Muzhippurath, a 47-year-old Keralite, turned lucky with his ticket number 139411 purchased on May 14 for draw number 216.
Assain said he was grateful for the win and would invest some of the prize money to start a business in Ajman. Some of the money will go towards the education and marriage of his two daughters, he said. The bakery salesman, who earns Dh3,000 a month plus commission, said things had been tough of late and hence this win was a blessing.
Meanwhile, former Dubai resident Harvinder Singh, 37, who now lives in Singapore, won US$1 million in the Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire and Finest Surprise draw on June 3.
Harvinder, who now works for a shipping company, plans to start his own business in Mumbai so that he could be with his family, He also wishes to utilise it to help people in need during the present difficult times.
Two UAE expats, one from Nepal and another from India, won a luxury motorbike each in other draws on the same day. The Indian, Thajudeen Shahulhameed, hopes to use the money from selling the bike to fund his family’s expenses.
