India has recorded 31,118 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, taking the country’s total cases to 94,62,810 on Tuesday.
With 482 new deaths in the last 24 hours, the toll has mounted to 1,37,621.
The total number of active cases in the country stands at 4,35,603, as of Tuesday. The total discharged cases are at 88,89,585 with 41,985 new discharges in the last 24 hours.
The ministry also said that India continues to have one of the lowest deaths per million population globally. “Focussed measures to ensure a low and manageable fatality rate have resulted in daily mortality figures of less than 500,” it said in a tweet.
Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan on Monday said that up to 30 crore Indians would be inoculated against COVID-19 by August 2021 according to the central government’s plans. However, he also reiterated the need to follow appropriate protocols to fight off the disease.
Delhi recorded 3,726 fresh Covid-19 cases on November 30, the lowest in 15 days, while the daily death toll crossed the 100-mark again and stood at 108. While a total of 50,670 tests for the detection of coronavirus cases were conducted November 30, the number of RT-PCR tests surpassed that of rapid antigen ones, according to a bulletin by the Delhi health department on Nov 30.
