Kerala reports record 19,577 COVID-19 cases on April 20

COVID-19 has been confirmed for 19,577 people in State today. Ernakulam 3212, Kozhikode 2341, Malappuram 1945, Thrissur 1868, Kottayam 1510, Thiruvananthapuram 1490, Kannur 1360, Alappuzha 1347, Palakkad 1109, Kasaragod 861, Kollam 848, Idukki 637, Wayanad 590 and Pathanamthitta 459 districts were diagnosed with the disease today.

A total of 3,00,971 samples were collected on Fridays and Saturdays from different parts of the state as part of the group test. Of these, 1,12,221 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate is 17.45. A total of 1,44,71,237 samples have been tested so far, including LAMP and antigen testing.

No one from the UK, South Africa or Brazil has confirmed Kovid-19 in the last 24 hours. COVID-19  has so far been confirmed by 116 people from the UK (108), South Africa (7) and Brazil (1). Of these, 112 tested negative. A total of 11 people were diagnosed with the genetically modified virus.

It has been confirmed today that 28 deaths in the last few days were due to COVID-19. This brings the total death toll to 4.978.

Today, 397 of those diagnosed with the disease are from outside the state. 17,839 people were infected through contact. Contact source for 1,275 is not clear. Ernakulam 3,083, Kozhikode 2,279, Malappuram 1,818, Thrissur 1,833, Kottayam 1,427, Thiruvananthapuram 1,203, Kannur 1,162, Alappuzha 1,337, Kasaragod 815, Kollam 840, Idukki 620, Wayanad 575, Palakkad 424 and Pathanamthitta 423 were affected by the disease.

Sixty-six health workers were affected by the disease. Thrissur, Kannur 14 each, Kasaragod 8, Thiruvananthapuram, Wayanad 6 each, Palakkad 5, Kottayam, Ernakulam 4 each, Kollam 3, Pathanamthitta and Kozhikode 1 each were affected by the disease.

The test results of 3,880 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative. Thiruvananthapuram 379, Kollam 67, Pathanamthitta 158, Alappuzha 215, Kottayam 330, Idukki 97, Ernakulam 458, Thrissur 521, Palakkad 175, Malappuram 159, Kozhikode 715, Wayanad 133, Kannur 300 and Kasaragod 173 were found to be negative today. With this, 1,18,673 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. 11,48,671 have so far been freed from COVID-19.

There are currently 2,89,185 people under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of these, 2,75,964 are under home / institutional quarantine and 13,221 in hospitals. A total of 2,470 people were admitted to hospitals today.

Today there are 28 new hotspots and three areas were excluded from the hotspot list. There are currently a total of 493 hotspots.
