Focusing solely on other Indian states where hundreds of thousands of Malayalis have settled down, Innoventia Systems, a Kerala-based start-up in Kochi’s Infopark has launched an e-commerce platform called
www.TheDiscount.net through which it aims primarily to sell Kerala brands outside Kerala. Speaking on the launch, Anuraj Rajendran Pillai, Founder & CEO of The Discount, said Keralites across India can order their favourite Kerala brands through the website and also through the Discount app.
“Unlike many other e-commerce apps, Discount lets the shoppers buy directly from their brand/manufacturer of their choice and the shipment is done directly from brands’ warehouse to their doorstep eliminating the increasing complaints and litigations on counterfeits. Our role is to facilitate a technologically advanced platform to help the trade directly between the buyer and seller and thus ensuring savings on money and time as well,” he said. He also said The Discount has facilities to deliver every nook and corner of India including 27000 plus pin codes.
Mr. Anuraj also said The Discount has already got more than 100 Kerala brands on-board from sectors as wide as FMCG, F&B products, home appliances and personal care products and a couple of Kerala’s renowned Ayurveda brands. “Otherwise, Kerala is notorious for being a consumerist state despite the state has produced some enduring brands and achieved great value additions sourcing raw materials from elsewhere. The Discount will prove that Kerala’s lack of fame was a matter of logistics and digitization and this way, we want to add a new dimension to the notion of Make in India with Make in Kerala,” he said.
The team at the Discount is certain that the revenue generated through the app will be an additional fillip for Kerala brands. “Malayalis living outside Kerala want to buy and consume Kerala brands but their unavailability makes them go for others. The Discount will address this gap by ensuring one single shopping window at their fingertip and delivery at homes across India. Mr. Anuraj also said the app, in phases, will expand to other parts of the world, to start with UAE, Canada & North America.
The Discount has built a digital shopping mall that facilitates businesses to build and create their own online store with an integrated logistics solution, custom themes, catalogue manager, mobile app and a dedicated service desk manager, which help the vendor’s with maximum return, reduced time to roll out as the application engine is built as a ready to use, integrated payment gateway, integrated and automated shipping across PAN India, features such as Cash on delivery (COD), Card on delivery, Buy now pay later and EMI facilities.
The company targets to generate Rs.100 crores worth of collective revenue for its brand-partners in the current financial year. Mr. Anuraj pointed out that Indian e-commerce industry is estimated to grow to around US$99 billion by 2024. “We want to play a pivotal role by then in enabling stores in digital space – both for big brands and SMEs alike,” he added.
Innoventia otherwise is into digitalization, blockchain, analytics and AI since its inception in February 2018 and its clientele includes big MNCs.
