Kerala to get tough on quarantine violators

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said that the police would conduct inspections at the household level to check the violation of quarantine.

The State government would also raise a voluntary force to help the police in carrying out random checks. The police and civilian patrols would ensure that people adhered to social distancing measures.

At a meeting of legislators and members of parliament via video conferencing on May 26 the chief minister warned that the cases of COVID-19 would shoot up if citizens took the lockdown relaxation for granted.

Leader of the Opposition Ramesh Chennithala and former chief minister Oommen Chandy attended the meeting.
