The lockdown in Kerala has been extended until May 30, Chief Minister announced saying that the triple lockdown will be extended in Malappuram district.
Kerala reports 29,673 COVID-19 cases on May 21
COVID-19 was confirmed in 29,673 people in Kerala on May 21 and 41,032 people have recovered; while 3,06,346 are undergoing treatment; A total of 19,79,919 patients were tested for 1,33,558 samples in the last 24 hours. The district-wise break-up of the number of infected are Thiruvananthapuram 4151, Malappuram 3499, Era Nakulam 3102, Palakkad 3040, Kollam 2745, Thrissur 2481, Kozhikode 2382, Alappuzha 2072, Kottayam 1760, Kannur 1410, Idukki 1111, Pathanamthitta 878, Kasargod 650 and Wayanad 392.
During the last 24 hours, 1,33,558 samples were tested. The test positivity rate is 22.22. A total of 1,85,55,023 samples have been tested so far, including LAMP and antigen testing. No one from the UK, South Africa or Brazil has been confirmed with COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.
COVID-19 has so far been confirmed by 125 people from the UK (115), South Africa (9) and Brazil (1). Of these, 124 tested positive. A total of 11 people were diagnosed with the genetically modified virus. It has been confirmed today that 142 deaths in the last few days were due to COVID-19. This brings the total death toll to 6994. Today, 215 of those diagnosed with the disease are from outside the state and 27,353 people were infected through contact. The source of infection for 1,976 people is not clear.
A total of 129 health workers were affected by the disease. Palakkad 30, Kannur 28, Wayanad 13, Era Nakulam 11, Thiruvananthapuram 10, Thrissur 8, Kasaragod 7, Kollam, Kottayam 6 each, Kozhikode 4, Pathanamthitta and Idukki 3 were affected. A total of 41,032 people who had been diagnosed and treated were cured. Thiruvananthapuram 4584, Kollam 5524, Pathanamthitta 1660, Alappuzha 2104, Kottayam 1486, Idukki 1500, Ernakulam 3118, Thrissur 6814, Palakkad 3055, Malappuram 4613, Kozhikode 2450, Wayanad 560, Kannur 2649 and Kasaragod 915 were cured. With this, 3,06,346 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. 19,79,919 people have so far been freed from COVID-19.
There are currently 9,88,009 people under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of these, 9,49,300 are under home / institutional quarantine and 38,709 in hospitals. A total of 3,524 people were newly admitted to the hospital. Today there are 7 new hotspots. No area was excluded from the hotspot. There are currently a total of 873 hotspots.
